Event Details

The workshop will take place from 9am until 4pm on Wednesday, October 9, 2025. Attendees will be clinicians providing PCIT to youth and families through Riverside University Health System – Behavioral Health as well as PCIT providers throughout California in community-based organizations and in private practice. The workshop will include a lecture related to the topic of cultural considerations for working with Black Families. During the lecture, several videos will be presented to demonstrate either highlight issues of vicarious discrimination trauma in children, a sampling of the infamous racial socialization rite of passage in “the Talk,” as well as sample demonstration of a PCIT intake using Hays' ADDRESSING model for the purposes of gathering culturally salient information for the implementation of PCIT. There will be opportunities for clinician engagement through a cultural identity self-assessment exercise to inform culturally sensitive therapeutic care, discussions, and question and-answer sessions.
