Training Description: This training provides a relationship-based, trauma-informed framework for gathering information to complete an initial intake assessment for a child aged 0 – 5, and developing a case conceptualization to guide a treatment plan for infant/early childhood mental health services. Topics covered include foundational principles of infant and early childhood mental health, a family centered approach to engaging families and gathering information about the child’s needs and strengths, incorporating observations of the child and family into the assessment process, and cultural considerations. Training includes guidance for using the ICARE Initial Assessment form (created by the LA County Dept of Mental Health) and approach to writing a case conceptualization for a young child.
